Distributed License Manager (DLM)
Rocket® Uniface makes use of the Sentinel Rights Management System (RMS), but existing Uniface Enterprise Edition users may continue to use the Distributed License Manager (DLM) to handle licensing of Uniface 10.3.03. If no Sentinel license is selected, DLM is used by default in Uniface 10.3.03.
DLM licenses are provided as XML files that, depending on the license, may be installed on the same workstation as the Uniface product or feature, or on a central server that will check out and serve licenses to client workstations. When a central license server is used, client machines or servers running Uniface products must connect to a license service to obtain their license.
Uniface DLM must be installed on any machine that acts as a license source, whether an individual workstation or a central server. It is also possible to install DLM on workstations that act as license server clients of a central license server. However, if the DLM client DLLs are located in the Uniface installation directory, which is usually the case, this is not necessary.
The DLM components that are installed depend on the platform and the type of license.

Configuring Licensing from Uniface
You can configure some aspects of licensing, such as notification messages, from within Uniface using the $LICENSE_OPTIONS assignment setting.
For more information, see $LICENSE_OPTIONS (DLM).
