Fixed Length of Field
Physical length of the field in the database, in characters.
Description
The default for this field depends on the data type and the packing code.
If the field supports subfields, this value is the number of character positions allocated to the field as a whole, excluding separators. For example, if the field contains four subfield occurrences and the subfield length is defined as five, the field length is defined as 20.
