Description

Note:  The $HANKAKU_FONT1 setting is provided for compatibility with earlier Uniface versions. It should be used only on a Japanese system.

When set to TRUE, Hankaku Katakana characters and ASCII can be entered when the field syntax definition MUL (Unicode range 00-FF) is used. The $EXTENDED_SYNTAX setting is ignored.

There are two types of Hankaku—Hankaku Katakana (www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/30a1/index.htm) containing one-byte characters, and Zenkaku Katakana (www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/30a2/index.htm) containing double-byte characters.

When $HANKAKU_FONT1 is set to 1, all Hankaku Katakana characters in the region FF61-FF9F are mapped to Font 1, that is, to extended ASCII. The setting has no effect on Zenkaku Katakana double byte characters.

When the field syntax is MUL, only characters from Font 0 and Font 1 can be entered. However, some string fields may require single-byte Hankaku characters as input. With MUL in the field syntax definition and $HANKAKU_FONT1 set to 1, ASCII and half-width characters from region FF61-FF9F can be entered, nothing else.
