Restarting the Virtual Machine

D3 must be restarted to put UNIX in multiuser mode.

If AIX was upgraded as part of this installation, and this is a turnkey system, remember to restore the /etc/inittab file.

CAUTION

If the upgrade was from a previous D3 or Advanced Pick release, all FlashBASIC programs should be recompiled to ensure system integrity and performance.

To restart the virtual machine:

  1. Shut down the D3 system. Enter:

shutdown

The following prompt displays:

Shutting down  "pick0:AIX"

Do you wish to continue (Y/N/0)?_

  1. Enter y.

Wait for the Flush complete message to display. It may display before or after the virtual machine halted message.

The D3 virtual machine has been halted.

  1. Put UNIX into multiuser mode.
