Installing D3 with the selected settings

Complete these instructions to install D3 with the selected settings.

1. Select the Install D3 with current settings option from the D3 Installation menu.

   You will see the tape devices currently installed and the modified kernel parameters, as shown in this example:

    SCT Tape added. (/dev/rmt0.1)
    9-track overland tape added (/dev/rmt1.1)
   
   

   • If the kernel does not need to be rebuilt, you will see the following message:

      Linking Monitor ... Completed

   • If a previous D3 system was loaded, you might see the following prompt:

      mv: Existing /usr/bin/odbcsrv: 6755 mode. Remove?

2. Enter y.

   When the installation completes, you will see the following message:

    D3 Database Management System is installed

   Note: In the case of an installation error, you should see an error message. See Installation troubleshooting for more information.
3. If you are completing a new installation or an upgrade with a file-save tape, go to the next section, Starting the D3 virtual machine .
