D3 installation options

After the D3 package is loaded, a D3 installation script executes to generate a configuration file.

About this task

If the configuration file /usr/lib/pick/pick0 already exists, you will see the D3 Installation menu. For a new installation, you will see the D3 Installation menu using the default configuration file.

Tip: If you are running a graphical interface on AIX, it might be necessary to set your term type to vt100. To do this, type:
TERM=vt100;
export TERM
Note: If the installation program modifies the pick0 file, it will put a backup copy of that file in the /tmp directory under the name sav.pick-.x.

Procedure

  1. Select the Display/Modify D3 configuration option.

    You will see the following menu:

  2. Review each menu option and the corresponding default configuration value displayed using the values you entered in the worksheet from Installation worksheet.
  3. After reviewing the default configuration values, complete one of the following steps:
    • To accept the default configuration, enter 0 to return to the D3 Installation menu.
    • To change the default configuration, select the menu item to change and enter the new value.
    Note:
  4. Enter 0 after all preferred configuration changes are made to return to the D3 Installation menu.
  5. Proceed to the next section, Installing D3 with the selected settings.
Note: The installation process removes comment lines from any existing configuration file, usually /usr/lib/pick/pick0.
