Running the ezClear Utility

The ezClear Utility is a small Windows executable program that does not require installation. It is opened through any launch page or by double-clicking the ezclear.exe file.

The ezClear Utility assists you when BlueZone configurations are first being tested and deployed. ezClear Utility provides an easy way to quickly erase all of the BlueZone Web-to-Host files from a user's test computer.

The ezClear Utility can be downloaded or run with one of the following options:
  • In any launch page, click Get or run ezClear.

  • In the BlueZone CD image, open the BlueZone Web-to-Host\manual-upgrade folder and double-click the ezclear.exe file.

The ezClear Utility can also be run through the command line using command line switches. Refer to ezClear command line switches for more information.

During the initial testing phase of BlueZone Web-to-Host, you may need to modify your BlueZone configuration files many times. We suggest that you download the ezClear Utility to your test user computers so that you can test these modifications and changes.
Important: The BlueZone Web-to-Host Control Module will not allow the overwriting of the main BlueZone configuration file. If you download BlueZone Web-to-Host to a test computer, then go back to the Wizard and make a configuration change to BlueZone, the next time you run BlueZone Web-to-Host, the changes will not display. This is normal. To test your configuration changes, download and run the ezClear Utility on the user test computer to remove BlueZone first, then run BlueZone Web-to-Host to verify your changes.

Running the ezClear Utility

The following options are available in the ezClear Utility:

  • If the ezClear Utility is run without selecting any options, the BlueZone Web-to-Host Control Module (ActiveX) and the BlueZone program files are deleted from the user's computer.

  • Delete All User Files (Profiles, Scripts, Transfer Files, etc.): Deletes the BlueZone Web-to-Host Control Module (ActiveX), the BlueZone program files, and the user's BlueZone working files from their computer.

  • Uninstall ActiveX Controls: Removes the Web-to-Host ActiveX Control Module from Internet Explorer's available objects.

  • Delete All Internet Cached Files (except URL History and Cookies): Deletes the browser cache. Use this option to ensure that the latest version of the Web-to-Host launch page is downloaded during the next downloading of BlueZone Web-to-Host.

Note: When running the ezClear Utility with option two selected, you may notice a long delay for the ezClear Utility to complete this task. The long delay is caused by the size of the cache which can get very large if it has not been deleted for a long period of time.
  • Uninstall BlueZone Served Desktop: Deletes only the BlueZone files when you have deployed BlueZone in the served desktop mode. If you are using BlueZone in the standard Web-to-Host mode, do not select this check box.

Select the option(s) that you want, or leave all of the options cleared, and click Yes to run the ezClear Utility. Click Cancel to exit the ezClear Utility.
