Enabling the keep alive timer
- From menu bar, click .
The Miscellaneous Options dialog displays.
- Enable the Enable Keep Alive Timer (Minutes) check box.
- Type the number of minutes you want the Keep Alive Timer
to be sent.
Set the number to a value that is less than the time interval
in which you are being disconnected.

Enable the Send Keep Alive during transfers check box. As an option,
you can also send Keep Alives during file transfers. The option is off by default so no Keep
Alive (NOOP) messages are sent during a FTP transfer. The reason for this is that some hosts do
not handle NOOPs being sent to them during file transfers, which can result in failed
transfers. When this option is enabled, NOOPs are sent every X minutes as configured in the
Keep Alive Timer, even during file transfers.
