BlueZone Web-to-Host is a state-of-the-art secure host access solution that utilizes a basic HTML web server in combination
with an ordinary web browser to automatically download, install and maintain BlueZone host emulation client software on your
users' workstations.
BlueZone Web-to-Host can be served up from virtually any web server regardless of operating system platform.
BlueZone Web-to-Host consists of two major components:
|
• |
The BlueZone Web-to-Host Wizard |
|
• |
The BlueZone Web-to-Host web server files |
Web-to-Host Wizard
The BlueZone Web-to-Host Wizard is a GUI Java application that is used by the BlueZone Web-to-Host administrator. The BlueZone
Web-to-Host administrator can easily create and configure web pages that contain all the necessary data to download and launch
the desired BlueZone emulation client sessions from the web server to your users.
The Web-to-Host Wizard is the administrative tool that is used to create and configure the BlueZone Web-to-Host web server
files.
Web-to-Host web server files
The BlueZone Web-to-Host web server files are the output, or the product, of the Web-to-Host Wizard. They consist of all
BlueZone program and configuration files as well as web pages that are required to make BlueZone Web-to-Host work. The web
server where they reside is the vehicle that serves up these files to your users.
The Web-to-Host web server files are considered to be static files because BlueZone Web-to-Host does not require a web application
to run on the web server. This collection of files, once created by the Wizard, are copied or transferred to the web server
and reside there until they are served up to your users.
Installation options
The Web-to-Host Wizard and the Web-to-Host web server files can reside on the same server platform. However, they can also
be installed on separate physical platforms.
For example, you can install the BlueZone Web-to-Host Wizard on a Microsoft Windows 2003 Server configured as an IIS web server.
In this case, the BlueZone Web-to-Host web server files that are created by the Web-to-Host Wizard, are automatically copied
directly to the IIS web server.
Alternatively, if the desired web server for serving up BlueZone Web-to-Host is running on an IBM 3270 Mainframe under WebSphere,
you would install the Web-to-Host Wizard on a Windows 2000 or higher workstation, use the Wizard to create and test the your
configured BlueZone emulation client sessions using the Wizard's built-in web server. When you are satisfied with the results,
copy the "output" of the Wizard (the Web-to-Host web server files) to the WebSphere web server.
The same approach can be used for web servers running on any non-Microsoft platform like UNIX or Linux. Again, as stated
above, install the Web-to-Host Wizard on a Windows 2000 or Windows XP workstation or higher, and copy the "output" of the
Wizard (the Web-to-Host web server files) to the desired web server.
