Modifying your keyboard profile
You can modify your keyboard profile at any time during your session. You can map functions to new keys, change existing map assignments, or link a new keyboard profile to the environment.
Follow the steps below to modify your keyboard profile.
1. Right-click on the cluster name and select Keyboard Management.
2. In the Keyboard Management dialog box, select the Keyboards tab and select the keyboard profile that you want to modify.
3. Click Export to export the keyboard profile from the database to your drive.
4. Close the Keyboard Management dialog box.
5. In HAM, select Tools Keyboard Editor and then the emulation type.
6. In the Keyboard Editor, select File Open and open the file you saved in the Export operation.
7. At any time during this keyboard session, you can clear the key assignments using the following buttons:
•  Reset: Resets the key’s command to what was previously saved.
•  Clear: Clears the key’s command from the key.
•  Clear All: Clears all the key commands from all the key.
Note
There is no Undo function for these keys. If you lose information mapped to the keys, you will have to re-assign them manually or reload the keyboard profile.
8. Select the type of command you want to assign from the Type list box. For a description of the different Types, see Creating a Keyboard Profile.
9. If you want to use a key combination for the function, select one or more of the Modifiers checkboxes. If you select a modifier key, you will have to use that modifier key in addition to the key you select on the keyboard. For example, if you select the Shift and Alt checkboxes, you will have to press [Shift] and [Alt] before you pressing the key to access the function.
Note
Do not assign functions to the standard or shift positions of alphabetic keys; this erases your lower and upper case alphabetic characters. Only assign functions to these keys using the [Ctrl] or [Alt] keys
10. Click the key to which you want to assign the command.
11. Click Assign or right-click on the key. The keyboard editor assigns the selected command to the selected key.
12. Select File Save or use the Save button on the toolbar.
13. If you want to open another keyboard profile to edit, follow these same steps. If you open another keyboard profile, the current profile closes automatically. You cannot open more than one keyboard profile at a time. Select File Open or click the Open button on the toolbar. Select the profile you want to modify and click OK.
When you are finished making changes to the keyboard profiles and you want to exit the Keyboard Editor, select File Exit.
If you try to exit the application without saving your changes, the Keyboard Editor prompts you to save the modified keyboard profile.
•  Click Yes to save the changes to the current keyboard profile.
•  Click No to exit without saving the changes.
•  Click Cancel to return to the Keyboard Editor.
