When upgrading from HostFront version 4.0.3 or later, the installation program of version 5.2 will keep a copy of your local files on the disk (the essential files). To upgrade the database, a tool is provided that
can run in Host Access Manager and independently, outside of Host Access Manager. Running the tool independently allows the
administrator to run it on the database server or under the supervision of the database administrator without having to install
Host Access Manager.
The tool executive file is
SEAGULL.DB.Upgrade.exe and it can be found under the Host Access Manager installation folder.
Before starting the database upgrade tool, ensure that the HostFront services have been stopped.
When running the tool, you must enter the parameters required to connect to your current database.
In the Profile Type field, select the 5.2.0 product that you are upgrading to (BlueZone Access Server or HostFront). If you were using HostFront
Access Server 403 and all of your license keys are access keys, select BlueZone Access Server. If you were using HostFront Enterprise Server and some or all of your keys are enterprise keys, select HostFront.
The database upgrade tool will create a backup of your current database and then update it to the new structure of version
5.2.0. The backup of the existing database will be done by creating a new database with the same name plus the extension 403
to it. This allows you to get back to the 403 version of your profile immediately. If you want to go back using version 403,
the only thing you must do is to connect to the database using the new name (oldname403).
After the successful completion of the database upgrade, the tool will prompt you with the name of the backup file created.
The new database for version will have the same name as you original database.
