Adding SNA 5250 hosts
If you select SNA5250, the New Host window changes to the following:
Image
1. From the Connection type drop-down menu, select SNA5250.
2. In the Name field, type a descriptive name for the host. This name will be used in later configuration steps. It is recommended that you provide a name that is related to the host itself (for example, ProdAS400_Montreal).
3. In the SNA configuration section:
a. In the Default Local LU field, type the local APPC LU . You can find this LU in the Local APPC LU folder of the MS HIS Server Manager window.
b. Select the Primary host name. The contents of the drop-down list are derived from the configuration on the MS HIS Server. The same applies to the secondary host name if you have configured one on MS HIS server.
Primary and secondary hosts are used because if the attempt to connect to the primary host fails, then the 5250 service will attempt to connect to the secondary host. If this attempt succeeds, then the secondary host becomes the primary host.
4. In the Sign On section, type a valid user name and password (with confirmation) for access to the AS/400 system.
5. In the Available LUs panel, define the LUs that you need. The 5250 Server uses these LUs to configure the local LUs on MS HIS Server. The 5250 Server allocates the sessions evenly between all the local LUs, including the DEFAULT LU.
a. To add an LU, click Add.
b. To remove an LU, select the LU name in the Available LUs panel and click Remove.
6. Click OK.
