On the left pane, Host Access Manager displays the clusters that you define and their configuration in a cluster tree which
behaves in much the same way as Windows Explorer. The nodes can be expanded or concealed by clicking on the plus (+) and minus
() boxes beside them. Clicking on a node, displays the nodes information in the right pane.
The Host Access Manager title at the top of the tree is the root of the tree. You can use this node to create a new cluster
or to connect to a cluster.
The right pane displays the information of the selected node selected in the left pane. The information can be configuration
information or dynamic live connections or a mix of both.
Each cluster tree in the left pane has the following sub-nodes:
Cluster node: The main node of the cluster. Clicking on this node displays the cluster sub nodes in the right pane.
Services Status node: This node displays the status of all the services on every server in the cluster. Use this node to monitor whether a service
is started or not on a server machine. If a service is started, its field will display Started in green text. If a service is stopped, its field will be empty. If a service could not be reached, its field will display
Not Reachable in red text.
Active Users node: This node displays the currently active users with the total number of sessions used by each one. Every user has only one
entry in this view. The Display, Printer and File Transfer columns display the total number of sessions currently in use by the user. You can disconnect user sessions from this view
by right-clicking on the user entry and selecting a disconnect option.
Active Sessions node: This node displays the currently active sessions with information about each one. Every session has only one entry in this
view. You can disconnect sessions from this view by right-clicking on the entry and selecting Disconnect.
License Keys node: This node groups all your license keys. Clicking on this node displays a list of the keys along with the emulation type
of each key, its number of sessions and the total sessions per emulation type in the right pane.
Hosts node: Clicking on this node displays a list of the hosts in the cluster. The information includes the host name, connection type
and the number of sessions configured to use it. You can use this node and its right pane to work with host configurations.
The host configuration includes all the information related to a host. This item helps reduce the configuration required at
the session level because it consolidates shared information at the host level.
Cluster Services node: When clicking on this node, the right pane displays a list of cluster services running as part of the cluster. The information
displayed about each entry includes the IP address, port number, description, and the current status (started or stopped).
Servers node: The server configuration defines the machines that are running as servers. Clicking on this node displays a list of the
servers in the cluster. The information displayed about each entry includes the server IP, public IP, description, the status
and number of sessions connected to each emulation service running on the server.
Groups node: This is a sub-node that can be expanded to display all configured groups and sub-nodes. Clicking on this node displays the
list of the groups defined in the cluster in the right pane. This includes the group name, authentication type, and the number
of users configured under each group. You can use this group to work with the Default group properties and to create a new
group.
♦ |
A group node: A group is used to consolidate shared information between a group of users so that you do not have to redefine the same
information for every user. You create this node when you create a new group. Under a group node there are two sub-nodes,
Users and Sessions.
§
Users node: Select this node to display a list of all of the users defined under this group in the right pane.
§
Sessions node: Select this node to display a list of all of the sessions that are assigned to the group in the right pane. This list is
only for information. To change the configuration of the sessions, refer to the Sessions node below.
All users node: This node lists all of the configured users for all of the groups in one view. Clicking on this node displays a list of
all of the users with their group names, their current status, and the total number of sessions defined for every user (between
parentheses). Use this node to manage user configurations along with some monitoring and connection parameters (note that
the Active Users node and Active Sessions node are more suitable to manage live connections as they show only connected users and sessions).
Configured sessions node: This node provides you with a listing of all of the sessions defined in the cluster. Selecting this node displays a list
of all sessions and session pools that you have defined. The information includes the host name to which the sessions are
linked, the name of the session, whether it is a pool or not, the type of the session (display, printer, file transfer), and
the size of the pools. This node has two sub-nodes:
♦ |
Pools: This node groups the session pools that you define. A session pool allows multiple users to connect to the server with the
same session configuration.
♦ |
Single sessions: This node groups the single sessions that you define. A single session can be used by only one user at a time.
