In very early versions of BlueZone Web-to-Host, it was possible to create multiple BlueZone emulation sessions from a single default.z** file (like deafult.zmd) and specify the Host Address and Port number as parameters in the Object Tag.
These Object Tag Parameters are called "Overrides". They are called this because when these values are stored in the Object Tag, they override the corresponding values stored in the BlueZone configuration file. This is how it was possible to launch multiple sessions, with different settings, from a single (default) BlueZone configuration file.
For example, it was common practice to specify Host Address and TCP Port as Overrides.
This was the primary technique for configuring BlueZone sessions, in the first generation Web-to-Host Wizard.
In Web-to-Host Wizard versions earlier then 5.1, the Overrides Feature was provided primarily as a way to make web pages that were created in older versions of BlueZone Web-to-Host compatible with the current Web-to-Host Wizard. In these versions, the Overrides Button only appeared when the Wizard was managing sessions that were imported into the Wizard that contained certain Object Tag parameters.
Starting with Web-to-Host Wizard version 5.1, the Overrides Button will always be displayed on the Sessions Page. The reason for this change is for two reasons.
First, so that Customers who wish to override information in the Object Tag can do so by using the Overrides Feature.
Second, so that Customers can now use the Web-to-Host Wizard to configure BlueZone sessions without a particular session number.
After you have created a BlueZone session, if you click the Overrides button, the following blank dialog will be displayed:
Normally, you will use the Wizard in conjunction with the BlueZone emulation client to configure your BlueZone sessions. However, suppose that down the road, the IP Address of your host changes. You can use the Overrides Feature to change the Host Address. The advantage of using this method of changing the Host Address is that by using the Overrides Feature, the new Host Address is forced into your end user's configurations by the Object Tag. This override of the Host Address happens even though you have your session configured to Allow Local Save set to yes.
Most Customers who use the Web-to-Host Wizard will not need to use the Sx Feature of the Overrides dialog. However, there are cases where Customers use the Wizard to create web pages with Object Tags that are being incorporated into sites that use scripting to control BlueZone. When multiple BlueZone sessions are required, sometimes it's necessary for the sessions to be numbered as they are launched without a particular session number being hard coded to that session.
This is accomplished by enabling the Sx checkbox. When Sx is enabled, the session number is assigned at the time of launch. When the session is launched, if it's the first session, it will be assigned session S1. If it's the second session, it will be assigned S2, and so on.
