Security Server Configuration
The Host List Tab is where you set up configurations for Load Balancing, Hot Backup and SOCKS5 Proxy support.
This feature provides a means to distribute client connections evenly among several hosts. The primary host entered in the Connection dialog is added to the list automatically.
This feature provides a means to automatically switch clients from a primary host to a secondary host if the primary is unavailable. The primary host entered in the Connection dialog is added to the list automatically.
This feature allows you to use SOCKS5 Proxy in addition to the proxy capability of the Security Server. This feature is useful when the Security Server is located behind a Firewall and you want to connect to many hosts that are located behind the Security Server. Without SOCKS5 Proxy, you would have to open up a Firewall port for each host. By using SOCKS5 Proxy, you only have to open up one port in the Firewall.
At the bottom of the Host List dialog, enter the host address into the Host Address: field and the TCP port number into the TCP Port: field.
Click the Add button and the new host address and port will be added to the list.
If there is more than one host address in the list, you can change the positions of the hosts by highlighting the host you want to move, and clicking the Move Up or Move Down button.
Highlight the host address you wish to remove and click the Remove button.
The Method radio buttons select how the Host List will be used.
Disable disables the Hot Backup, Load Balancing or SOCKS5 functions.
Enable Load Balancing enables load balancing among the hosts configured in the Host List.
Enable Hot Backup enables hot backup sequentially through the hosts configured in the Host List.
Enable SOCKS5 Proxy enables SOCKS5 Proxy support to the hosts configured in the Host List.
If Enable Load Balancing is selected, the load balancing type may be selected from the Load Balancing radio buttons.
Round Robin distributes the client connections sequentially through the list.
Least Clients Attached distributes the client request to the connection with the least number of connected clients.
Least Client Traffic distributes the client request to the connection with the least amount of data being transferred regardless of the number of currently connected clients.
If Enable SOCKS5 Proxy is selected, you have the option of selecting whether or not the SOCKS5 Proxy pertains only the hosts in the Host List. If the Allow Proxy Only to Hosts in the Host List checkbox is checked, users will be limited to only the hosts in the Host List.
NOTE To
use the SOCKS5 Proxy feature with
BlueZone client emulators, configure the Firewall
Tab in the BlueZone TN3270 or TN5250 Properties dialog by checking the
Connect Though Firewall or Proxy Server
checkbox, selecting SOCKS5 Proxy and placing the IP Address and TCP Port
of the Security Server in the Firewall
Address and Port fields.
Do not place anything in the User Name
and Password fields.
