How To Guide

How to Use the Initial Commands Feature

BlueZone Secure FTP includes the ability to send Initial Commands.  Initial Commands are one or more commands that you select from a list of possible FTP commands that will be executed in order, upon connection to the FTP host system.

This feature is especially handy when you need to execute the same series of FTP commands on reoccurring basis.  It is also a great way to execute a complex set of commands from the DOS Command Line.

NOTE  Initial Commands can also be used in conjunction with the Scheduling Feature which can be used to completely automate the execution of commands on a scheduled basis.

SEE  the Scheduling Feature for a detailed explanation.

Procedure

Either create a new FTP Connection or edit an existing one from the Connection List.  You will see a tab called Initial Commands.

Select the Initial Commands tab and click the New button.  A dialog will be displayed that is used to select the desired command.

SEE  the Initial Commands Feature for a detailed explanation.

Using Initial Commands with a Command Line Switch

Sometimes it is desirable to run the application from the DOS Command Line.  BlueZone Secure FTP supports Command Line Switches.  One of these Command Line Switches (/F) is used to start the application with a specific configuration file.  In this configuration file you can store Initial Commands that automatically execute when the application is started.

In this way, you can use the DOS Command Line Interface to launch BlueZone Secure FTP and automatically execute a complex set of commands.

SEE  Launching From a Command Line and DOS Command Line Support for more information.
