Things to know about LIPI File Transfer

Enabling the LIPI File Servers

The LIPI servers must be enabled on the iSeries / AS/400 host, before LIPI file transfers can take place.  Consult with your iSeries / AS400 administrator about enabling the LIPI servers.

Available Host Libraries

After you connect to the iSeries host, only the libraries that are assigned to you by default, will be displayed in the Host Files pane.  There may be additional existing libraries that exist on your host system.  You can add additional existing libraries to the list by using the Add Library feature.  You can also remove a library using the Remove Library feature.

SEE  How to Add an Existing Library to the Host Pane and How to Remove a Library from the Host Pane for more information.

NOTE  You can not create new libraries nor can you delete them using the BlueZone LIPI File Transfer program.

File System Differences

Since the file system of an iSeries / AS/400 host is very different than a PC file system, an additional file is sent down from the host that contains important information that is used by the iSeries / AS/400 host when a file is transferred up to the iSeries / AS400 host.

This additional file is called a File Definition File.  BlueZone LIPI automatically gives the File Definition File, the same name as the file that is being downloaded but, with a file extension of .FDF.

You can not transfer a file to an iSeries / AS/400 host using BlueZone LIPI File Transfer, unless you have a File Definition File.

Other

The BlueZone Host File Transfer icon can be added to the BlueZone ToolBar if desired.
