Installation

Upgrading Version 4.1 or Earlier

Overview

Before version 4.2, the name of this product was SEAGULL License Manager.  It was installed in a completely different location with different Registry Keys than BlueZone License Manager.

Therefore, it is not possible to upgrade, nor is it necessary to upgrade your previous version.  Instead, stop the SEAGULL License Manager service, and install BlueZone License Manager.  Use the same registration key that you used with your SEAGULL License Manager.

The following Upgrade Procedure will step you through the process of retrieving your License Key form the SEAGULL License Manager and upgrading to the new BlueZone License Manager.

Upgrade Procedure

  1. If the SEAGULL License Manager is not running, start it now.

  2. On the License Manager MenuBar select File::License Info.  The License Information box will be displayed.

  3. Copy the License Key form this edit box to the Windows clipboard (CTRL-C).

  4. Click the OK button to close the dialog.

  5. Insert the BlueZone CD-ROM into your CD drive.  The BlueZone DemoShield will launch and you will be presented with the Welcome to BlueZone "Splash" screen.

  6. Click the Server Components button.

  7. Click the BlueZone License Manager link to start the installation process.

  8. The BlueZone License Manager - InstallShield Wizard will be displayed.  Click the Next button.

  9. The BlueZone Licensing Agreement dialog will be displayed.  Select accordingly and click the Next button.

  10. The Destination Folder dialog will be displayed.  Use the Change button to make any desired changes to the location where the BlueZone License Manager will be installed (we recommend using the default values).

  11. Paste your License into the editbox from the Windows Clipboard (CTRL-V).

  12. Click the Next button.

  13. The Ready to Install the Program dialog will be displayed.  Click the Install button.

  14. The InstallShield Wizard will now install the License Manager.  When the installation is complete, you will receive a message that the installation was completed successfully.

  15. Click the Finish button.

Launching License Manager

Once you have completed the BlueZone License Manager installation, start the BlueZone License Manager by clicking the Windows Start button.  Under Programs, locate BlueZone::License Manager.

When the BlueZone License Manager launches, the BlueZone License Manager Service will not be running.  Start the service by clicking the Start Server icon located on the ToolBar.

NOTE  By default, the BlueZone License Manager Service is set to Automatic.  So if the BlueZone License Manager server is ever restarted, the BlueZone License Manager Service will automatically start.  You can verify this by opening Windows Services and locating the BlueZone License Manager Service and verifying that the "Startup Type", is set to Automatic.

Uninstall Procedure

  1. Launch Windows Services and locate SEAGULL License Manager in the list.

  2. Stop the SEAGULL License Manager service and close Windows Services.

  3. Locate the SEAGULL License Manager installation directory.  It will probably be in the following location:
