BlueZone Web-to-Host |
Force Updates Feature: Click here to learn more about this feature
When using BlueZone Web-to-Host in the Served Desktop mode, one of the features of Served Desktop mode is the ability for the BlueZone Session Manager to deliver updates to your End Users.
You must be using the BlueZone Session Manager in order for this feature to work.
When a file is updated on the web server like a new BlueZone CAB file or a new BlueZone configuration file, that file will be automatically downloaded to your End Users the next time they launch the BlueZone Session Manager. It's the BlueZone Session Manager that controls this feature.
When the BlueZone Session Manager detects that a newer file exists on the web server, the Web-to-Host Control Module will automatically download the file. A message box will notify the End User that the BlueZone Administrator has posted new files for updating.
The End User can decide if they want to download the files now or put it off until the next time they launch they BlueZone Session Manager.
However, if you do not want your End Users to be able to refuse the download, you can configure Served Desktop so that it will force the downloading of the files.
The following procedure explains how to configure this option.
Configuration Method: Manual Configuration
Feature Scope: Site Level Feature (See the TIP below)
On the web server, navigate to the desired Site that you wish to change.
For example:
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\MySite
Locate and display the contents of the \template folder.
Locate the desktop.ini file and edit it with Notepad.
Locate the ForceUpdates=No entry towards the end of the [Session Manager] section.
Change the No value to Yes and save the file.
All new Launch Folders that are created from this point on, will have the Force Updates Feature enabled.
NOTE If
you have already created one or more Launch
Folders, you will have to go to each existing Launch
Folder, and edit the desktop.ini
file, changing the ForceUpdates=No
to Yes.
TIP It
is possible to enable the Force Updates
Feature individually for each existing Launch
Folder. This
is accomplished by editing the desktop.ini
file located in only the Launch Folders
you wish to change.
