Security Server Installation
Currently the only installation option for BlueZone Security Server is FIPS Mode Support. By installation option, we mean an option that has to be selected before the BlueZone Security Server is installed.
BlueZone Security Server has many additional options that can be enabled or configured through the standard BlueZone Security Server management interface after the BlueZone Security Server installation process has been completed.
FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) are a set of standards that describe document processing, provide standard algorithms for searching, and provide other information processing standards for use within government agencies. FIPS also provides requirements for the encryption of data.
Federal Information Processing Standard 140-2(FIPS 140-2) is a standard that describes requirements for cryptography modules and components. The standard is published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
If BlueZone Security Server is installed with FIPS Mode Support enabled, then BlueZone Security Server is compliant with FIPS 140-2 - Security Requirements for Cryptographic Modules.
In order to enable FIPS Mode Support, BlueZone Security Server can not be installed from the BlueZone CD. You must copy the BlueZone Security Server files to a location on your hard drive so that you can edit the SETUP.INI file.
NOTE
If you
downloaded the BlueZone CD Image from the BlueZone Software web site,
you can skip to step 4.
On the hard drive of the server where you are installing BlueZone Security Server, create a folder called BlueZone Security Server (or any name you wish).
Browse the BlueZone CD Image and locate the BlueZone Security Server folder.
Copy the entire contents of this folder to the folder that you created on your hard drive.
Inside the BlueZone Security Server folder, locate the SETUP.INI file and edit it with Notepad.
Locate the FIPSMode=No entry under the [Setup] section.
Change this entry to Yes as shown here:
[Setup]
FIPSMode=Yes
Save the file and close it.
You can now continue with the installation of the BlueZone Security Server.
