How To Verify FIPS Mode

Overview

Since there is no obvious way tell if FIPS Mode is enabled on a particular machine, it is necessary to check that machine's Windows Registry entry for FIPS Mode.

Procedure

  1. From the Windows Start menu, select the Run option.

  2. In the Open editbox, type regedit.  The Windows Registry Editor will launch.

  3. In the left hand pane under My Computer, expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder.

  4. Expand the SOFTWARE folder.

  5. Expand the SEAGULL folder.

  6. With your mouse, highlight the BlueZone folder.  In the right hand pane, you will see several BlueZone settings.

  7. In the Name column, look for FIPS Mode.

  8. FIPS Mode will have an entry in the Data column.

  9. If the entry shows 01, FIPS Mode is enabled.  If the entry shows 00, FIPS Mode is not enabled.

NOTE  If your company or organization requires FIPS Mode support and it is not enabled, contact your BlueZone Administrator to rectify the problem.
