When using BlueZone Web-to-Host in the Served Desktop mode, one of the features of Served Desktop mode is the ability for the BlueZone Session Manager to be able to deliver updates to your End Users.
When a file is updated on the web server like a new BlueZone .CAB file or a new BlueZone configuration file, that file will be automatically downloaded to your End Users the next time they launch the BlueZone Session Manager. It's the BlueZone Session Manager that controls this feature.
When the BlueZone Session Manager detects that a newer file exists on the web server, the Seagull Web-to-Host Control Module will automatically download the file. A message box will notify the End User that the BlueZone Administrator has posted new files for updating.
The End User can decide if they want to download the files now or put it off until the next time they launch they BlueZone Session Manager.
However, if you do not want your End Users to be able to refuse the download, you can configure Served Desktop so that it will force the downloading of the files.
The following procedure explains how to configure this option.
This is a Global Level Feature.
This feature is controlled by editing a setting in the desktop.ini file and is not configurable using the Web-to-Host Wizard.
On the web server, locate the BlueZone Web-to-Host installation. It's probably located in the following location:
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\bzw2h\
Locate the Launch Page folder that you created using the Web-to-Host Wizard.
Inside that folder, locate the desktop.ini file
Using Notepad, edit the file and locate the Session Manager section:
[Session Manager]
RunInTray=Yes
ForceUpdates=No
Change the value of ForceUpdates=No to Yes and save the file.
From now on, End Users will be notified of if any files need to be downloaded and they will not have the ability to refuse the download.
NOTE If
you created more than one Launch Page, you will have to edit the desktop.ini
file in each Launch Page folder that you want this option to apply.
