How to Make Changes to BlueZone's Default Configuration

BlueZone Web-to-Host ships with several "default" configuration files called Profiles.  These Profiles are used by the Web-to-Host Wizard as a basis for the configuration of each BlueZone emulation client.  BlueZone Profiles contain information on all aspects of how the various BlueZone emulation clients look and behave.  Think of the default Profiles as your "Master Configuration" Profiles.

The Web-to-Host Wizard can be used to configure several of BlueZone's key features like the Host IP address and TCP port.  However, there are many more BlueZone features that can be changed and saved in the BlueZone Profile.

For example, features like keyboard mapping, screen color scheme, font selection, font size and color, the physical size of the emulator, the emulator's position on the screen, ToolBar set up, as well as many other features are saved in the BlueZone Profile.

There is one BlueZone Profile for each of the BlueZone emulation clients.

Not all of BlueZone's configurable features can be configured using the Web-to-Host Wizard.  If you remember, the only items that you were able to configure were Description, Host IP Address and TCP Port number.

For example, if you want to enable SSL or change BlueZone's keyboard map, you will have to make these changes to BlueZone's default configuration also know as the BlueZone Profile.

NOTE  When using Served Desktop Mode, all of BlueZone's configurable settings must be stored in the BlueZone configuration profile.  You can not use the Wizard to make any configuration settings.

Procedure

  1. Launch the BlueZone emulation client that you wish to change.  You can do this by navigating to one of the Launch Pages that you just created using the Web-to-Host Wizard.

NOTE  If you have BlueZone Web-to-Host installed on a Microsoft IIS web server.  You may want to perform this task directly on the server or while you are connected to the server via a terminal services session.

  1. Once the session has launched, go ahead and make your desired changes.

  2. When you are finished, choose File:Save from the BlueZone MenuBar.  This will save your changes to the default Profile for this emulation client.

BlueZone Profiles are saved to your BlueZone Working Directory which by default is created in your Windows Personal Folder in a folder called BlueZone/config/.

  1. Locate the saved default profile in the BlueZone Working Directory, and copy it to the "configs" folder on your web server.  On a Microsoft IIS web server, the location will look something like this:

C:\InetPub\wwwroot\bzw2h\configs

NOTE  BlueZone T27 Display and BlueZone UTS are exceptions.  In addition to the default.ztd and default.zud files, both of these emulators require additional files to be copied over to the web server as part of the configuration.

  1. Once the updated profile file and or .ini files are copied to the web server, the updated configuration will be available to your End Users.

  2. Repeat the process for any additional BlueZone emulation clients you wish to change.
