BlueZone Web-to-Host

How to Configure MIME Types in IIS on Windows 2003 Web Servers

This procedure pertains to Microsoft Windows 2003 Web Servers only

Overview

BlueZone Web to Host can be installed on any web server, including the Microsoft 2003 IIS 6.0 Web Server.  However, because of new security features, the default settings of IIS version 6.0 will not allow the downloading of file types other than .htm and .html.

Since BlueZone Web-to-Host requires the downloading of file types other than .htm and .html, the BlueZone Web-to-Host setup program automatically sets the MIME types of these files so that the need to manually configure them is not necessary.

However, it is possible that you might be in a situation where you may want to manually upgrade an existing installation of BlueZone Web-to-Host and therefore it will be necessary to configure the MIME types manually.

Procedure

This procedure assumes that BlueZone Web-to-Host is already installed.

  1. Launch the Internet Information Services Manager console.

  2. Locate the virtual directory that was created during the BlueZone Web-to-Host installation.  The default name is "bluezone".

  3. Highlight the virtual directory right click and select Properties.

  4. Select the HTTP Header tab.

  5. Click the MIME Type button.

  6. Click the New button, and enter the necessary file extensions, along with the MIME Type, from the MIME Type Table.

TIP  To save time, copy and paste the MIME Type “application/octet-stream” into each entry.

NOTE  You only need to add the file extensions for the BlueZone emulation clients that you intend to use.  The "Common Files” are required for all BlueZone Web-to-Host emulation clients.
