Getting Started

Installing the SEAGULL Security Server and Manager

The SEAGULL Security Server consists of two components, the SEAGULL Security Server Service, and the SEAGULL Security Server Manager.  Both components should be installed on the same server, however, the SEAGULL Security Server Manager may also if desired, be installed on a different Windows NT/2000 server or Windows workstation in order to configure and control the Security Server Service remotely.

To install the Security Server Service and Manager:

  1. Insert the BlueZone CD-ROM into your CD drive.  An Auto-run program will launch and you will be presented with the Welcome to BlueZone "Splash" screen.

  2. Click on the Server Components link.

  3. Click on the SEAGULL Security Server link.

  4. The SEAGULL Security Server Setup dialog will display.  The Full Installation radio button will automatically be selected.  Click the Next button.

  5. The Seagull Security Server License dialog will display.  Select the "Yes" option and click the Next button.

  6. The Installation Directory dialog will be displayed.  Make any desired changes.  We recommend taking the default settings.  Click the Next button.

  7. The Program Group, Program Icons, Desktop Shortcuts dialog will be displayed.  Make any desired changes and click the Next button.

  8. The Launch Selected Items dialog will be displayed.  Choose any items that you wish to be automatically launched after the installation has completed.  Click the Finish button.

  9. The Security Server files will be copied, the SEAGULL Program Group and the Security Server Manager desktop shortcut will be created.

  10. You will receive a message that the "SEAGULL Security Server Installation completed successfully".

  11. Click the OK button.  You will immediately receive the following message:

  2. If this is a licensed installation of SEAGULL Security Server, click the Yes button.  The SEAGULL Registration Wizard will launch.

This ends the basic installation of the Security Server Service and Security Server Manager.
