Getting Started

Installing the SEAGULL Security Server and Manager

The SEAGULL Security Server consists of two components: the SEAGULL Security Server Service and the SEAGULL Security Server Manager. Both components should be installed on the same server, however, the SEAGULL Security Server Manager may also if desired, be installed on a different NT/2000 server or workstation in order to configure and control the Security Server Service remotely.

To install the Security Server Service and Manager:

  1. Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive. An Auto-run program will launch and you will be presented with the SEAGULL BlueZone Software "splash" screen.

  2. Click on the SEAGULL Products link.

  3. Click on the SEAGULL Security Server link.

  4. The SEAGULL Security Server Setup dialog will display.

  5. Take the default settings and click the Install button. This will install both the Security Server Service and the Security Server Manager.

  6. The Security Server License dialog will display. Select the Yes option and click the Finish button.

  7. The Security Server files will be copied, the SEAGULL Program Group and the Security Server Manager desktop shortcut will be created.

  8. You should receive a message that the SEAGULL Security Server Installation completed successfully.

  9. Click the OK button.

  10. Once the installation is complete, go to NT Services and find the service called Seagull Security Server and start the service. If you are not sure how to find “Services” on your server, read the following:

Windows NT - Go to Start:Settings:Control Panel, and double click on Services. Find the SEAGULL License Manager Service in the list and click Start.

Windows 2000 - Go to Start:Settings:Control Panel, double click on Administrative Tools, then double click on Services. Find the SEAGULL License Manager Service in the list, highlight it, right click and click Start.

This ends the basic installation of the Security Server Service and Security Server Manager.
