Modifying Rocket TE

Rocket TE consists of multiple components. Most likely, you will not need to install all of the Rocket TE components. By default the Rocket TE installation wizard installs the following components (they are listed in the order that they display in the installation wizard Component Selection dialog box):

  • Rocket TE Session Manager
  • Mainframe - Rocket TE Mainframe Display Emulator
    • Mainframe Printer Emulator
  • iSeries - Rocket TE iSeries Display Emulator
    • iSeries Printer Emulator
  • VT - Rocket TE VT Emulator
  • FTP - Rocket TE FTP Client (The FTP Com Object is automatically installed with the paid version of Rocket TE FTP Client. For more information on the FTP Com Object, see the Rocket TE Advanced Automation Developer's Guide.)
  • Rocket TE Scripting and Automation Components
  • HLLAPI Components
The following Rocket TE components are not selected by default and must be selected manually during the installation process in order for these components to be installed:
  • 6530 - Rocket TE 6530 Display emulation *
  • Kerberos - Installs Kerberos Single Sign-on Protocol
  • Unisys T27 - Rocket TE Unisys T27 Display emulation * †
  • Unisys UTS - Rocket TE Unisys UTS Display emulation * †
  • Rocket TE TCP/IP Print Server
  • Web Deployment control module

* These components require an additional cost license and may not be present in your installation.

† Unisys T27 and Unisys UTS are not available in 64-bit version and will not appear in the Installation Wizard Component Selection Dialog when installing the 64-bit version of the Rocket Terminal Emulator Desktop.

Rocket TE has a number of features that cannot be installed unless the feature is configured in some way before the installation process takes place. Some features require that the setup.ini file be edited. We recommend that you review the Rocket TE optional installation features first, before performing your first Rocket TE installation. Refer to Configuring optional features for more information.

After you install Rocket TE, you can add any of the Rocket TE components that you did not install during the initial installation or you can remove any of the Rocket TE components that you no longer need.

For example, if you are an IBM 3270 Mainframe user and you accidentally installed Rocket TE for the iSeries (IBM 5250 emulation), you can remove the Rocket TE iSeries component.

Any optional components that are removed from the image will not appear in the Installation Wizard Component Selection dialog box.
