To support double-byte character sets (DBCS), your Windows computer and Rocket TE VT
display session must be configured for one or more double-byte languages.
Configuring Windows
- Open the Windows Control Panel, and click Region and Language.
- In the Keyboards and Languages tab, click Change
Keyboards.
- In the General tab, click Add.
- Select one or more language keyboard check boxes, and click OK.
- Click OK twice.
The Input Method Editor (IME) loads for the language so
you can input double-byte characters.
Note: You might be required to provide your
Windows Installation CD in order to load the double-byte character support. Also, you
might be required to reboot your system before these new settings take
effect.
With multiple language support, the input language is changed
by pressing Alt+Shift. An icon in the Windows status bar changes from
EN (English) to the other language symbols.
Configuring Rocket TE
- Display settings
- For the Rocket TE display session to display double-byte characters properly, you must select a
double-byte font.
- On the Rocket TE menu bar, click . You will be on the Font tab.
- In the Font Selection group, click
Change, and select a Chinese font.
Tip: NSimSun
is a Simplified Chinese font that is installed in Windows.
- In the Script list, select Chinese

- Save the display session.
- Print Screen settings
- To print screens containing double-byte and single-byte characters, you must select a
double-byte printer font.
- On the Rocket TE menu bar, click , and click the Font tab.
- Click Change, and select an Asian font like NSimSun.
- In the Script list, select Chinese
